As Guy, I chose the option that was to "Copy the content of a scroll on lamb skin" and it gave me a free level. There is a random event dealing with you stumbling upon an Alchemy Lab. I finished my run without one, so it isn't necesarry if you'd have to dump a very useful item for it. It helps out a lot towards the beginning, and can add an entire character level. If you use it at the standard 60SP max, that's 300 free experience points. If uses your current soul points and gives you SP x 5 experience. I didn't use any +exp gear my entire run. Of course, swapping on +experience gear right before the final hit would help, but it's definitely not necesarry. During this time, the game was also promoted globally on.

The following March, Runestone Keeper was released on both the PC and Mac. (Once I hit level 12 I had 6 tattoos, so I kept going and ending up betraying Vengeance for the first shrine that I came across to secure my 9 tattoo achievement as well). I skipped a floor once or twice and ended up with the achievement around floor 19, but you may still want to stick to Chaos. When I did this I ran in Chaos mode because it has 25 floors.
Both Normal and Nightmare modes only have 20 floors in the Dungeon. At this point you just need enough experience to reach Level 12. After you're worshipping him you'll need to find a tattoo parlor and purchase all three of his tattoos.
Anytime before your character hits level 10 should be fine. Instead, I recommend going in godless, and hoping that you come across a shrine that allows you to pick him prior to advancing too far. His debuff (-3 attack) makes the beginning levels tough. I wouldn't recommend selecting the God of Treasure prior to the run. (This shouldn't be an issue if you've been playing a while, they tend to pile up if you don't activate runewords often.) When you're deciding to go for this, make sure that you have enough runes on hand prior to the run. However, the third tattoo available from the God of Treasure increases the level cap by 2 for the specific run that you get the tattoo. The standard level cap in the game is Level 10.
